Tiffin, John, of Mockerkin in Loweswater (-1656?)

Tiffin, John, of Mockerkin in Loweswater (-1656)

Yeoman. Evidently a man of substance: he was No 1 in the Loweswater Protestation; and was owed money throughout Dean, Lamplugh and Ennerdale!

The PCC shouldn't be taken in this case as an indication of social or wealth status, as it might be in other periods. The only probate court available in the Commonwealth 1653-1660 was PCC. There was no other choice.

His widow was Isabel.

His sons were John Tiffin of Mockerkin and Thomas. His married daughters were Annas (Ann or Agnes), wife of William Fletcher; and Ellen, wife of Anthony Peile.
