Mirehouse, Nicholas, of Sosgill in Loweswater (alive 1646)

Mirehouse, Nicholas, of Sosgill in Loweswater (alive 1646)

Brother of Isabel Pearson of Mockerkin.

Isabel made bequests to his children in her 1645 will, without naming them. She gave each 4 shillings.

In a codicil to the will, she also handed over to Nicholas the ownership of a substantial loan (£12 18s) that she had made to Gilbert Mirehouse of Hobeck (?) some four years earlier.

There are two known baptisms in Loweswater for his children: Anthony (26-02-1628) and Mary (25-03-1631). Neither would have been old enough to be listed in the Protestation.

It seems that he was involved in slate-quarrying.
