Mirehouse, Gilbert, of Hill in Loweswater (alive 1646)

Mirehouse, Gilbert, of Hill in Loweswater (alive 1646)

IN PROGRESS

In 1642 Isabel Pearson of Mockerkin made a loan by bill of £12 18s to Gilbert Mirehouse of Hobeck (Hope Beck?); and in 1646 passed the ownership of the bill to her brother Nicholas Mirehouse of Sosgill. As Isabel was born a Mirehouse, this loan may indicate a family relationship.

There is only one Gilbert Mirehouse listed in the Loweswater Protestation.

There was certainly a Gilbert Mirehouse at Hill. He didn't leave a will, though the next three generations of his family did.  His daughter Janet was baptised 12-02-1629/30 in Loweswater. A son Thomas was beneficiary in the will of William Iredell in 1662. Gilbert was listed in the inventory of John Jackson of Waterend in 1648.

So it seems very likely that Gilbert of Ho[pe?]beck and Gilbert of Hill were one and the same.
