The Seventh Generation

 

99. Stanley W BURNYEAT, son of Stanley BURNYEAT and Mary THOMPSON, was born in 1920 in Whiitehaven RD.

100. Peter James Anthony BURNYEAT, son of Miles Fleming BURNYEAT and Dorothy Catherine CLOUGH, was born in 1916 in Whiitehaven RD. He married Cynthia Cherry WARBURG in 1938 in Ware, Herts.. He died after 1983 in unknown.

He was the executor for his brothers Will in 1977.

Cynthia Cherry WARBURG was born in 1914 in Paddington, London. She died after 1983 in Unknown.  She and Peter James Anthony BURNYEAT had the following children:

101. Philip Ponsonby BURNYEAT, son of Miles Fleming BURNYEAT and Dorothy Catherine CLOUGH, was born in 1921 in Whiitehaven RD. He died on 6 September 1977 in Colchester RD, Essex.

102. William Hugh Ponsonby BURNYEAT, son of Hugh Ponsonby BURNYEAT and Elsie G. HARRISON, was born in 1911 in Ecclesall, Derbyshire.

103. Jean BURNYEAT, daughter of Harry Wilson BURNYEAT and Margaret MCVEY, was born in 1930 in Bolton RD.

104. Alan BURNYEAT, son of Harry Wilson BURNYEAT and Margaret MCVEY, was born in 1932 in Bolton RD.

105. Ann C. BURNYEAT, daughter of William Maurice Brownlie BURNYEAT and Lindsay Muriel NEILL, was born in 1920 in Cheltenham.

106. Elizabeth Brownlie BURNYEAT, daughter of William Maurice Brownlie BURNYEAT and Lindsay Muriel NEILL, was born in 1923 in Wakefield RD, Yorks. She was a WREN Codebreaker during WWII. She died on 19 December 2011 in Vancouver, Canada.

Obituary:-
“Elizabeth Brownlie BURNYEAT : Liz Passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on December 19th, 2011 at Vancouver General Hospital Emergency Dept., from heart failure. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Anne and Jill, and survived by her nephew Nigel in Greece, and niece Lindsay in the U.K. Liz was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire in the U.K. She joined the Womens Royal Navy Service (WRENS) on July 15th, 1942 and served as Wren, Leading Wren and Petty Officer Wren until December 3, 1945. Most notably, she worked on the Enigma project at Bletchley Park breaking the Nazi coded messages to the U-boats. In 2010 she was thanked by the Prime Minister, and awarded a commemorative brooch and the Freedom of Bletchley Park.”

“Liz emigrated to Canada in October 1959, and became a Canadian citizen on April 14th 1967. Liz worked for many years at the Catholic Children's Aid Society. After her retirement she travelled widely within Canada, to the U.K. and the Far East. Liz retained her sense of humour and interest in the world and local events. Liz will be greatly missed by her many friends and there will be a Celebration of Liz's Life at Crofton Manor in January 2012. No flowers by request, but for those who wish to make a donation in memory of Liz, may do so to the charity of their choice.”

107. Mary Jill BURNYEAT, daughter of William Maurice Brownlie BURNYEAT and Lindsay Muriel NEILL, was born in 1926 in Wakefield RD. She married Dudley NEILSON in 1951 in Chelsea, London.



The Eighth Generation

 


108. Miles Frederick BURNYEAT, son of Peter James Anthony BURNYEAT and Cynthia Cherry WARBURG, was born on 1 January 1939 in Kensington, London. He was an University Professor of Philosophy - Cambridge.

He was Educated at Bryanston School and King’s College, Cambridge, Burnyeat was subsequently a student of Bernard Williams at University College London.

He became an assistant lecturer in philosophy at University College London in 1964, and a lecturer in 1965. In 1978, he was appointed a lecturer in classics at the University of Cambridge, and became a fellow of the new Robinson College, Cambridge, where he remained until 1996.

In 1984, he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy and appointed as the fifth Laurence Professor of Ancient Philosophy at Cambridge, a position he held until 1996.

From 1996, he was Senior Research Fellow in Philosophy at All Souls College, Oxford, before returning in 2006 to Robinson College, Cambridge. He was president of the Aristotelian Society from 2005 to 2006.

In 2007, he was made CBE and a Festschrift in his honour (Maieusis: Essays in Ancient Philosophy in Honour of Myles Burnyeat) was published.

From 1984 to 2000 he was married to the classicist and poet Ruth Padel. From winter 2002 until her death in spring 2003 he was married to the scholar of ancient philosophy Heda Segvic, whose essays he prepared for publication.

109. Penelope J. BURNYEAT, daughter of Peter James Anthony BURNYEAT and Cynthia Cherry WARBURG, was born in 1941 in Whitehaven R.D. She married Danny DIPLOCK in 1964 in Bodmin, Cornwall.

110. John W. BURNYEAT, son of Peter James Anthony BURNYEAT and Cynthia Cherry WARBURG, was born in 1949 in Dunmow. He married Margaret A. FIRKIN in 1965 in Northumberland - West.
