WEST CUMBERLAND TYSONS
by Nev. Ramsden
Over the years I have produced many family trees in an attempt to increase the accuracy of my Family history research. I find this necessary to reduce the error risk when attempting to rationalise a complex family relationship. If you can account for all the people with the surname under consideration, in the area of interest, as well as the surrounding area, then there is a greater chance that the allocations that you make to your own family are accurate. Such a procedure is, of course, time consuming and generates many family trees.
I have found this approach particularly necessary when trying to un-ravel the family relationships of families with a common surname. The surname Tyson is one such family with 3.2 in every 100 children born in Copeland having this surname. Probably the most common Christian name used by west Cumberland Tyson families for their sons is Henry.
This collection is an attempt to share my information with fellow Tyson researchers.
The family groups shown within this collection would not have been possible without access to the following records at the various Cumbria record offices. They were the Bishops Transcripts [used for the IGI], the Parish Registers, Probate Records and the Manor Court Records.
Any human endeavour will contain errors as well as missing information. I would therefore welcome any comments on the data contained within.
