A short History of Barrow-in Furness - now in Cumbria

The Coat of Arms of Barrow-in-Furness

This history was written to give Family Historians an introduction to the history of the relative new town of Barrow-in-Furness.

Before 1974 Barrow was part of the Furness district of Lancashire which was to be found as a peninsula to the north of Morecambe Bay; but after the County boundary re-arrangement of 1974 it is now in the county of Cumbria
