Whitehaven Merchant Families

Whitehaven Merchant Families

Author: Nev. Ramsden

Who qualifies to be a Whitehaven Merchant family in this blog?

There has to be a significant connection with Whitehaven. Such as people who were born in, or moved to Whitehaven & lived there whilst they contributed to the expansion of the town through their business activities. But there has to be documentary evidence that one or more members of such families were classified as a merchant to qualify.

This first Volume gives historical background information for each of 33 merchant families and their trading activities. More information can be found for each individual in the notes attached to that person in their family tree, covering both the Merchants and their descendants, on the FindMyPast website.

Author's Warning Note

This is the work of one person and as such there has been no real check possible on what I have written, so, if anything that you read is important for you then please check its accuracy !

FINDMYPAST [FMP]

This blog uses FMP to display family trees . You need to be registered with FMP, but this is free.

Clicking on the link above will take you to the UK site.

HOW TO LOAD A TREE INTO FMP

First make sure that you are logged into FMP.

Then go to the family you want by clicking on the appropriate image below. This will show you two images - the name of the family + some background information.

Click on the name of the family. This will show one or more links. Click on each and they will appear on a separate browser in FMP.

Once the tree is loaded, it will remain in FMP until you delete it (or Nev. Ramsden deletes the tree completely). You can always reload from here again.
