Thomas Woodall (alive 1600)
Thomas was the eldest son of Oswald Woodall (-1608) of Ullock.
There is nothing much to say about him, other than that he had six children. No baptism date or burial date. No probate. He was probably born in the mid-1640s, was alive in 1600, and probably died after the Dean register stopped in the 1620s. So he might well have lived into his 80s or 90s like his father. He would have married twice, as he had a second batch of children twenty years after the first. His last son, Oswald, by his second wife, lived at Branthwaite Edge, so she may have provided a property there by dowry.
His children were: Thomas, John (baptised 30-02-1567), Henry (baptised 25-10-1670), Oswald (baptised 15-06-1594), Susannah (baptised 26-02-1600, buried 02-1600) and Mary (baptised 26-02-1600, buried 27-02-1600). The last two were presumably twins.
Children
Thomas Woodall (c.1565-post1628) of Ullock
Thomas inherited Ullock as the oldest son, so his birth date was probably around 1565. He was, unlike his brothers, named as 'of Ullock' in the 1628 will of his brother Oswald. His father was called the 'elder' at Oswald's 1594 baptism, which implies that this younger Thomas was married by that date and so might be confused with his father. His first wife Mary was buried 20-04-1614 in Dean, and he married Ellen Robinson 27-02-1616 in Dean.
He had children: Oswald, William, Richard (baptised 07-07-1603), Thomas (baptised 07-07-1603), Janet (married in 1622), an unnamed daughter (buried 23-12-1605), Margaret (baptised 23-11-1605, buried 23-05-1606), Agnes (baptised 01-05-1611), Mabel (baptised 01-05-1617, buried 25-11-1620) and Lancelot (baptised 20-01-1622).
John Woodall (1567-pre1628)
John married 20-06-1606 in Lamplugh to Agnes Dickinson of Streetgate. John had died by 1628 because his brother Oswald then described Agnes as his sister-in-law and as John's relict.
They apparently had children: John and Mary (baptised 02-08-1609 in Dean). John was alive in 1628, and Mary unmarried. There is a possibility that John was the elder John's son by an earlier wife, because Oswald refers to him as 'John, son of my brother John', but to Mary as 'her daughter' [ie Agnes' daughter], but I think that is over-analysing. In any case, John is probably one of the seven grandchildren given a bequest in the 1608 will of his grandmother Agnes Stanwix of Streetgate.
Henry Woodall (1570-pre1628)
Henry married 02-08-1612 in Dean to Janet Dickson. His brother Oswald made bequests in 1628 to 'Margrett Woodhall and Jannet Woodhall daughters of my late brother Henry Woodhall'.
Oswald Woodall (1594-1628) of Branthwaite Edge
Oswald is conveniently described at his christening as son of Thomas Woodall the Elder, and his later probate confirms that through mentions of his siblings. He was the son of Thomas by his second wife Ellen.
He left a will in 1628. His widow was named Elizabeth, and bequests in his will suggest that she was born a Fearon. The will doesn't suggest that they had any surviving children.
